25% of all indoor cats have long or semi-long fur. They spend a third of their time grooming. While grooming, a significant amount of hair is lost, of which approximately 2/3 is swallowed. The large amount of fur swallowed and the length of the hair promote the formation of hairballs.

Hair is made up of 95% protein. Precise nutrition is necessary for optimal coat quality. A lack of nutrients can affect the coat change and lead to dry, dull, brittle and lifeless fur.
Living indoors reduces the cat's activity level. Energy intake from food should therefore be moderate in order to ensure that the cat maintains its ideal weight. The reduced activity can also limit intestinal motility. This can result in digestive problems, such as soft and unpleasant-smelling stools.
