Before castration, the cat's metabolism is set to a diet with an almost constant energy content. The cat only eats as much as it needs to meet its energy needs. After castration, this natural regulation process ceases - the cat eats more than it needs, which quickly leads to obesity.
Just 48 hours after castration, your cat's food intake increases by 20%, while its energy requirements decrease by approximately 30%.
Urinary stones are more common in sterilized cats, especially if they are overweight, because they usually drink less and therefore produce less urine.
