The dachshund, also known as the Teckel or Dachshund, is a brave dog and a great hunter. The dachshund owes its popularity on the five continents to its characteristic silhouette with short, curved limbs (chondrodystrophic type). This particular shape has always been considered an advantage in hunting, as it allows the dog to pursue hares and badgers into their burrows.
As a result, the dachshund also has particularly sensitive joints.
Dachshunds have one of the longest life expectancies among dogs, but the quiet lifestyle of the dachshund can lead to increased oxidative stress and associated cell aging. It is important that the dachshund's diet limits the effects of oxidative stress and ensures healthy digestion for as long as possible.
