General information:
1. Before exercising, your dog should always warm up (run a little or start with light exercises).
2. Never train on a full stomach or feed immediately after training. Light snacks as a reward are allowed.
3. Increase the demands on your dog slowly so that he does not become overwhelmed.
4. Adapt the sport to your dog, taking into account the breed, age, talent and size of your dog.
5. Allow enough breaks during training so that your dog continues to enjoy the activity. Always provide a bowl of water and let him take a short breather after drinking.
6. Remember that training should always end with a positive experience.
7. Training with puppies and growing dogs may only be carried out after consultation with a veterinarian in order to avoid possible damage to their health.

Important: Pet and praise your dog during training - this motivates and creates trust.

Assembly instructions:
To set up the hurdle, select a flat surface so that your dog can jump straight. Slide the brackets over the poles with the screws loosened. Place the poles vertically at an internal distance of approx. 120 cm so that the hurdle can be placed loosely on top. The screws should only be tightened so that the brackets no longer slip.

The fitness training can begin:
1. Start training with a setting close to the ground. This will prevent your dog from crawling under the hurdle. Push the hurdle down so far that your dog can overcome it in one running motion.
2. Repeat each training phase several times to make sure your dog has understood the phase and mastered it without problems.
3. When your dog overcomes the obstacle, you should always praise him profusely afterwards. You can reward him with a small snack every now and then.
4. If you have little experience in dog training or want to take part in competitions during your dog training, it is a good idea to also train at a dog school or dog sports club. This way you can avoid any training mistakes or get tips from an experienced trainer.

The training phases:
You can start the first training phase with a leash or with a second person:

With a leash: Stand in front of the hurdle with your dog on a leash. Now run over the obstacle together with him or run past the obstacle from the side while your dog overcomes the hurdle alone.

With a second person: The assistant stands in front of the hurdle with your dog. You stand behind the hurdle and lure him with a toy or snack so that he runs towards you.

If this works without problems after several attempts, you can perfect the first training phase by continuing without the helper or leaving out the leash.
If your dog successfully masters this, you can begin the second training phase. To do this, stand in front of the hurdle with your dog, point to it and run towards the hurdle with your dog. Before jumping, use a command such as "hop" or "jump".

For the third training phase, move a few meters away from the hurdle with your dog. Run towards the obstacle together. Give the command to jump while your dog jumps over the hurdle and you run past the obstacle. To make the training a little more difficult, you can set the hurdle a little higher and increase the speed.

If your dog enjoys training with the hurdle, you can challenge him with a new hoop (Art. No. 3208-TRXI). This is an agility device that allows your dog to practice more precise jumps.
